Let’s talk about how we speak with one another.

The first hurdle to overcome is not to spend a lot of time talking “to” someone rather speak “with” them.

Some of the topics to be covered this week include:

Demanding a service while simultaneously degrading those who provide it for us.

Being passive aggressive with anyone, especially children.

Disbelieving someone when they finally find their courage to open up to us.

Conversation tip of the week:  rather than state “I assumed…” which gives the perception of jumping to a conclusion based on minimal or insufficient evidence, use “My understanding of…”.  It puts the onis back on us and lends more credibility to our response even if there was a misunderstanding.
